Turkey's Presidency has confirmed the downed SU-24 fighter jet belonged to Russia and its was shot down after violating the country's airspace.
The downed fighter jet was warned 10 times in 5 minutes according to a statement released by the Turkish Armed Forces.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has been briefed by the Chief of General Staff, Hulusi Akar. The prime minister has ordered Turkish forces to act according to the framework of NATO and the UN.
Two pilots reportedly ejected with their parachutes. It is still unclear if the pilots survived.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/ ... ussian-ntvThe jet shot down by Turkish forces on the Syria border earlier today was Russia’s, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing sources in the office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Su-24 jet was warned after violating Turkish airspace and was then downed in line with Turkey’s rules of engagement, Anadolu says, citing officials at the presidency.
